Hidden Gems of South India - Chikmagalur Glass House

read

Waking up to a magical view of the mountains in a secluded glass villa. Manicured lawn and pathways in the backyard. Sounds dreamy? We happened to live this dream in Primrose villas at Chikmagalur - yet another gem of South India!

Before I say anything more, I shall let the pictures speak for themselves :)

Where is Chikmagalur?

Chikmagalur is a hill station in Karnataka. It is located roughly 250 km from Bangalore. The highway to this district makes it easily accessible by road. A popular weekend getaway, Chikmagalur is famously known for its coffee estates and scenic treks. With a variety of resorts to choose from, one is spoilt for stay options in this town.

The Experience

Primrose villas is a 45 mins drive from the main town of Chikmagalur. Tucked away in the mountains, the property offers breathtaking views and lavish comforts. We started around 6am from Bangalore and reached the villa by 11am. From arranging an escort for the uphill drive to customized menu options, the Primrose team took care of every requirement of ours.

Food and Stay

There were two kinds of stay options to choose from - superior residence and private villa. While both were great comfort-wise, private villas offered a very unique experience. The villa was spacious (1200 sq.ft) and was looking towards a vast backyard with stunning views of the mountains. The interiors were exquisite and were adorned with antiques. The monsoon clouds made it a truly enchanting place to stay.

The staff at Primrose arranged for unique dining experiences, making them memorable. We had lunch by the falls, a private barbecue dinner under the sky, and a meal by the bonfire. The team arranged for a specially baked cake for our private celebrations as well. The food was delicious; the desserts, truly a delight. The lemon cheesecake deserves a special mention.

Outdoor/Indoor Activities

Primrose Villas is located amidst coffee plantations. The team offers guided walks in the property. One is free to drive around the nearby hills or go on a trek to Mullayangiri peak.
But considering the scenic beauty of this place, I would personally recommend a staycation. They offer a decent collection of books in their in-house library and a couple of board games. It is an ideal place for a laid back vacation.

Wrap-up

A special occasion or a weekend after a stressful week, there is no better way to celebrate than a dreamy vacation by the hills. The glass villas offer an experience like none other and are definitely worth the time and the money spent. Head out to this hidden gem in South India and make some happy memories!

Happy Traveling! 😁
